Washroom fittings branding for architects.

ONVO originated from many years of the company Lovair assisting architects with the design of school washrooms. Lovair separated their education division in January 2018 to create ONVO giving greater clarity of focus and provide customer experience tailored to this sector. ONVO recognised that they could be part of enhancing children’s experience at school and having a positive impact on the quality of their education.

Inspired by the rich heritage of British engineering, a tradition of original thought and craftsmanship, Lovair set out to create washroom fittings that are high quality and built to last. The Lovair Latherwash® trough has been known and trusted by both architects and contractors for almost a decade because of its high quality and ease of installation.

ONVO required washroom fittings branding specifically aimed at architects who specify education projects. High quality printed specification guides were designed and produced using high-quality, aqua inspired materials and print finishes.

We created a modern brand scheme with a subtle nod the early internet through simple grid systems and monospaced typography – green and white on a black background. To complement the look and feel we developed typed-text animation on the website’s homepage. The questions provide an alternate method of site navigation for architects who are not 100% of what system they require, with simple answers they are directed to products suited to their specification. In addition to the text animations we added a background colour selector (black or white) which completely reverses the colours scheme depending on your personal preference.

To complement the logo type we created a set of custom washroom symbols using styling from the various characters.

A Design & Specification Manual aimed at architects in the education sector.

BOYCO Classpack® and Classpack® are trademarks of BOYCO UK Limited. Classpack® brings together over 50 years of sector experience working with architects, designers and contractors to create a new and effective system that simplifies the design, specification and costing of fitted furniture in schools. This makes Classpack® the route of least resistance in the FF&E process and another BOYCO innovation that has been designed with their customers in mind.

Classpack® offers a truly diverse range of furniture, fittings & equipment for the learning and teaching environment, aimed specifically at architects. BOYCO Classpack® provide BIM models in both their native and IFC (2×3) formats and if required, can output data into specific CAFM schemas (Planon, Planet etc).

OCS Studio were approached by BOYCO to create the Classpack® brand in 2016 with the official launch planned for August 2017.

The selected design route utilises an isometric grid throughout graphics and across marketing communications literature including the stunning Design & Specification Manual. Minimal aesthetics and monochromatic branding place focus on wood textures and vibrant accent colour within the product ranges.

To align with BOYCO Classpack®’s business strategy and the promise of hi spec, quality materials for architects in the education sector, the case bound Classpack® Design and Specification Manual was designed to maintain these standards whilst providing architects with an introduction to the brand, products and services. The running isometric theme is evident throughout the book.

We were commissioned to create a selection of high quality case study images plus a range of photographs focussing on craftsmanship and BOYCO’s attention to detail within their manufacturing facilities. Our images, along with BOYCO’s own library are included within introductory areas of the book. Product pages display detailed isometric line drawings and are available within Classpack®’s BIM library, supplied to prospects on a micro, branded storage device along with a copy of the Design and Specification Manual.

Creating a brand for education sector architects.

In 2016, the Classpack® logo was designed by OCS Studio to help establish a visual style which appeals to architects specialising within the education sector.

Teal Living is a brand new offering from the innovative British manufacturer Teal, part of The Senator Group, a family run business, global brand and leader in the furniture manufacturing industry. Teal boasts over 40 years’ experience manufacturing for the NHS and challenging environments market. Teal Living is a brand which provides a range of design-led products specifically aimed at the residential care market, offering classic styles with a twist plus fashionable, contemporary pieces all complemented with a range of hand crafted cabinets.

The brand has been designed to promote a feeling of luxury and comfort. Brand identity, language and tone of voice became the key drivers of the design-led message. We created an elegant brand identity accompanied by a secondary marque to add a stamp of quality to marketing literature. The marque is structured using a set of four hearts representing care. A series of luxurious brand patterns were designed to be used as supporting graphics for large areas of literature plus exhibition stands and other applications.

Fashion inspired typography plays a key part in achieving the required visual aesthetic for the brand which reflects both design and quality. Copy sections throughout branded literature are cleverly headed with a combination of adjectives and nouns in a consistent manner such as ‘Affordable Luxury’. The adjectives use Gill Sans, a modern classic sans serif typeface and nouns use the elegant italicised serif font Essonnes.

Photography uniquely contrasts the feel of a British stately home with the urban decay of an old mill. A series of creative compositions and simple product shots were produced to form a stunning image library.

A teaser advertising campaign was launched throughout industry magazines where we produced cropped imagery revealing elements of products along with the brand identity. The brand was officially launched at Care and Dementia Show 2016, NEC Birmingham and visitors to the stand took away a stylish promotional bag including gifts and the launch brochure.

“We were looking for a brand image that would really hit our message home. A brand that would make our customer feel special, promote a feeling of luxury and comfort, and endorse confidence. To help us on this journey we hired specialist design and brand agency OCS Studio. The launch of the brand was scheduled for the Care and Dementia show in October and was everything we had hoped for. We attracted exactly the right type of customer and that opened the door for us in a number of arena’s we would of struggled to get in previously.

Our aim from the beginning was to make the customer sit up and look… almost double take if you like and it took research, planning and time to know exactly where to pitch ourselves… OCS Studio really took the time to understand our industry, our competition and what we were trying to achieve and to me that attention to detail is what ultimately made it so successful.

On the back of the brand launch we have a busy year scheduled for 2017 and we will have no hesitation working with them again in fact we look forward to it.”

Roku® Brand Identity.

Roku® is a durable, rotationally moulded chair and matching table collection with contemporary styling designed for multi-environment use including challenging behaviour – bedroom, lounge, reception, dining, high security and outdoor.

Teal Furniture Ltd, designers and manufacturers of Roku® approached us to create a new brand identity and provide design and marketing services to promote the product.

The marque utilises a stylised adaptation of the Japanese symbol for six ‘roku’, housed within the hexagonal shape inspired by the form of the chair. The marque’s bold and geometric aesthetic is complimented by the custom typeface Roku 1, currently under further development by OCS Studio.

The chair is available in a range of finishes therefore we opted for a fluid, more flexible logo mark which is used across an array of applications such as social media, sales literature and a proposed website.
